We slept in a WIGWAM!!

This past weekend we went to Cave City, KY. on a little weekend vacation. In cave city there is a place called Wigwam Village. It consists of "teepees" you can sleep in. No, its not the ole fashioned teepee with cloth, it was like a hotel room. Its the last one that exists in the U.S.! (check out a link below to see more history on this cool place)



Friday night we were going to cook out, but since it was 100 degrees outside we voted to get KFC and picnic on the site. It was just has fun. The kids played on the playground and in the mister getting wet and then we turned in to bed around 930pm- we wanted some good ole quality time in our teepees!

The next moring we woke up and went to Mammouth Cave. Before our tour we had to stop and hit the touristy places. We took old time pictures (Maddie and I dressed up in southern belle gowns) so cute!! We rode water bumper boats and also toured Big Mikes house ( check pic of Maddie and I where it looks like im really big and shes really small) Overall it was an awesome weekend. Maddie amazed me. She took the 2 hour hike though the cave like a pro- going 280 feet underground. This was my first trip there and I really enjoyed it. Plus it was 55 degrees in the cave, can't beat that on a hot summer day!! Aboveare a few pictures from our trip-

Henry's Ark!

Saturday was a day of fun! First we went to Henry's Ark with our friends Sarah, Rachel, & Michele. Henry's Ark is a free "zoo" of animals that you can bring in your own food and feed and see the animals. There are ducks, deer, goats, peacocks, pigs, porcupine's, zebras, camels, and many more. It's quite fun and the animals go crazy for the bread, corn, and carrots! After spending time there we drove down River Road and went to the Kingfish on the River. They have a playground and putt-putt course. This was Madeline's first attempt at putt putt. She was so cute at putting the ball in the hole and did quite well. It's always fun to spend time with our buddies. Below are a few pictures from the day....

Welcome Home Cohen!

If you have been following my blog from the beginning-- I started this blog from getting inspiration from my friend Lori who was blogging here experience adopting a little boy named Cohen, from Guatemala. On my blog to the right there is a link to Lori & Robby's blog (journey to Guatemala). Todays post is to welcome home baby Cohen, and of course Lori and Robby. Lori has been in Guatemala 2 months and Robby 6 weeks waiting for the final paperwork to be completed. After a long 9 1/2 months he has finally made it to LOUISVILLE, KY and home for good!

I was able to be there at the airport upon last nights arrival at midnight. As they walked into the waiting area, tears filled everyones eyes. What a happy moment for their family! Cohen was amazing. Here it was midnight (10pm Guatemala time), a long day of traveling--- with a layover in Atlanta, and this little boy was smiling away and hamming it up for the crowd that awaited him. He kept wanting to walk and just take off. In no time this boy will be running around ,with Lori and Robby having to chase him. He is so precious, smiles constantly, and is so laid back. The crowd of us at the airport stood there just watching his every move unitl after 1am!

This weekend was filled with fun. Madelines friend Sarah started Kindergarten today, so we spent the weekend just having fun. Friday Madeline and Sarah went to Chuck E Cheese and had fun playing games then had a sleepover. These girls can play for hours and you never hear a peep out of them, so every now and then I will just say- "Say cheese girls", and of course they do their model poses.

On Saturday we spent the day swimming at Sarahs house then headed to the drive-in in Georgetown to see Underdog and The Simpsons. The girls didn't make it through the Simpsons movie--and either did I-falling asleep at the end. It was a fun night just being with our friends.

My Model....

Here is a picture of Madeline I got from over the weekend. She is a little model and posed like a pro. I have been a little bad this year and had not had her pictures done since February, so I wanted some in a summer outfit. She picked out the dress (which was the one she wore for Easter) On Easter it was too cold to wear it like this...

Yesterday I signed her up for ballet. She currently takes gymnastics, but has constantly talked about ballet at a real ballet school. She amazes me now when she play dances in the house how well she points her toes and the moves the way she does. I honestly can see her as a dancer in the future. She giggles with excitement about the upcoming classes which don't start until September 3rd. The first thing she asked me this morning was, " Mommy, do I get to go to dance class today?". I told her, very soon you will. The class will consist of a half hour of ballet and a half hour of tap. The sad thing is I won't be able to stand around and watch like I'm used to do at the little gym. They do have a few classes every now and then you can view their progress. This is good because they learn to pay attention and learn the steps without interruption or maybe being embarrassed.

Walmart Dancing

I just had to share a cute picture I took the other night at Walmart with the girls. Sarah and Maddie have been best buds this summer. When Sarah mommy needed to do some school shopping the other night, I went along to keep an eye on the kids while she took time "alone" to shop. We got back to the toy department and they found a keyboard theat played princess tunes...before you knew it, they were dancing. The were full of energy form just completing their gymnastics class. I have to say, I wish I had their energy.
