With the recent ice storms in my area, Madeline & I spent a lot of time together at home. I took a few pictures of Madeline relaxing at home last week, watching one of her favorites, Spongebob! She was getting the royal treatment, lunch in her chair! I hate to admit, but it was nice to just have the day off with her. Gotta love those snow days!
HAPPY LEAP YEAR 2008!
I wanted to share something here on my blog that has truely changed me. When I started here in blog -land I was following a blog of my friend Lori, journey-to-guatemala and their adoption of their son Cohen. Following their experience of the Guatemala adoption process really taught me a lot about the steps parents have to take to adopt, espically from a different country. Being part of Lori's blog I have met other blogger moms, mainly that have adopted through Guatemala. Your stories are amazing & inspiring. I want to thank everyone who posts to my blog and makes me a part of the community as well. I am a single mom and have met other single moms in blogger as well. My life was filled with joy with the surprise pregnancy and arrival of my little girl in March 2003. Without the support from friends and family I do not know where I would be today. I pray to all the families trying to complete their adoption in Guatemala, as I know that country and the US have made major changes. Thanks to all for sharing your stories and posting adorable pictures of your little ones. 
A little update!
The picture above is of Madeline taken on Wednesday at her first swimming lesson at the "Y". Last year we spent a lot of time in the water at Kentucky Kingdoms water park and at our friends backyard swimming pool. Even though Madeline is not scared of the water, she still cannot swim and hates water in her face. I am hoping the swim lessons will help her with learning how to go underwater, hold her breath, and to swim with the help of a float. She did very well last week and can't wait to go back for another lesson tonight.
This is the youngest picture of Madeline I have on my computer. She was 2 1/2 months old here and this picture is one of my favorite first pictures. I can barely remember her this small. Its amazing how fast they grow. Just one month from now (March 19th) my little girl will be 5 years old. For the "Now" picture, please see the previous post of her newest pictures taken Sunday.
This past weekend we headed to Portrait Innovations for our yearly pictures. Every year my mother takes all 3 grandchildren and gets their pictures taken together and individually. I have posted some of the pictures from the day. There were so many taken so I picked a few to show you from the CD we got. My favorite has been the one right below of her in the hat. She has always taken pictures with bows in her hair and I just wanted something a bit different this time. She is so good at taking pictures now too. She does exactly what people tell her to do, how lucky am I? The only downside, its hard to choose which ones to buy because they all turn out sooooo good. (FYI, it looks like below because of the glare of the white off the hat that it is cut off the top, but it is not in the final pictures, just on here)

I cannot believe that in one month my little girl will be 5 years old. Countdown to the big day as already begun. She asks me every morning now, " how many more days till my birthday mommy?"---Today I said 28.......I found this cute picture of Madeline from when she was almost 2. It took forever for her to grow any hair and to this day I have never had her hair cut. ( I have made little trims myself). She is finally getting a good length, but it is still very thin. The picture below is of her in her first set of ponytails. She wasn't sure what to make of it. I see this picture and just realize how much she has grown! Wow how time flies!
This past weekend her cousins, Zachary & Billy, met us at Portrait Innovations for the yearly picture my mom has taken of the 3 grandkids. The pictures turned out great. I hope to have them posted soon.
As I visit many blogs here in blogland I see so many wonderful blog headers. Many are offered at a resonable price to have your blog re-done by people who do this type of work for a profit. (a well deserved profit because I know it is time consuming work) , but $20 nowdays is like $200 to my pocketbook. I searched online for "free layouts" and blog design and just spent too long searching. My brother and sister-in-law are graphic desighers and do this type of thing for a living so hopefully they will be able to help me soon- Until then, I have played around on my computer and the internet and come up with something interesting in the meantime. Thanks for visiting. I am really enjoying my blogging and hope you enjoy seeing what's new with us.
This weeks theme for FFF is "sleeping angels". I snapped this photo back in December one evening when Madeline had fallen asleep slouched on the couch. We had just brought home the new maroon blanket. We opened it up and she held tightly on to it all evening. Next thing I know she is sound asleep. How precious is that. Every night before I head to bed I always go in and kiss my little girl on the forehead and say "I love you". I just just love looking at her when shes sleeping and know how lucky I am she is in my life!
Since I have been stuck at home since Sunday evening I have done some posting on here. I posted some pictures last night below of Madeline outside. Be sure to scroll down and see the post from yesterday. The pictures here are what we woke up to this morning, ICE. Currently it is raining since the temperture is rising. This is not the type of snowfall I would want. A good snow is a snowman building, sleigh-riding, snowball making, snowangel-making type snow. Oh well, I guess I should be happy to just see the white stuff at all. When I was growing up, every year we had a nice snow with school called off for days and we spent all day outside and being exhausted from a day outside. What fun it was. Hopefully there will be a time my little girl can enjoy the fun I had when I was little. In the mean time we sure do have a pretty view out the window.

While we enjoy this time off, Madeline and are are spending our snow day making Valentines and baking cupcakes for her class party. So we will enjoy the day together, just the 2 of us!It finally came. SNOW! It has been a long day at home with Madeline running a fever. She slept the entire day only waking up for me to give her some medicine for the fever. It is rare for my girl to get sick. The last time she was sick was with strep was November 2006 and before that July of 2004. So yes, as you can see when she does come down with something it is rare. Anyhow, I thought I would see how she would do today and if she was still bad I would take her first thing to the doctor in the morning. At about 8pm she woke and said she was hungry and wanted to see the snow outside. So I fed her and decdided to let her dress up and go outside for a few minutes. Of course the fever was gone. What kind of mom would I be to let her go out in a fever. So being the mommy I am I really wanted some good "SNOW" pictures. I was lucky to get the few I got. She wasn't in the mood to do much except touch it, walk around , then say , OK mommy, let's go in. They are predicting sleet and freezing rain tonight so I wanted her to get in it before it was all messy. From what I can tell of the snow here... it looks to be around 4-5 inches...I am really shooting for a snow angel picture of Madeline..maybe tomorrow. I love taking pictures..especially of her in the snow.

The theme for the week is messy faces. I tried really hard to dig up a messy face and this is close as I got. The was from this summer. Madeline was shoving her favorite food in her mouth- bread! ---So thats about as messy as I got.

This past weekend Madeline and I headed out for a day together. Back in January we received a booklet in the mail from build-a-bear. Anytime we get mail like that I always say to Madeline, "You got mail". She gets so excited. That day she took the booklet and looked though all the bears and outfits--for close to 30 minutes. She was so excited about the cute Valentine outfits for the bears and other animals. I have never taken her to build a bear myself, she has been many times with her pre-school class on field trips stuffing a bear & dog. She even went back in December and stuffed a "Rudolph". So for the next week all I heard about was this bunny and her "beautiful dress". So as Valentines approached I just told her I would get that for her for Valentines Day and we would head out to build her a "Bunny". So last weekend we did just that. She skipped on in to build a bear and went right for the soft long eared bunny and made her way to the line. I let her choose a sound for the bunny since she had never had one in her others before (except Rudolph). It was just perfect. This bunny says in a cute little female voice, "Let's go shopping", "Hey girlfriend!", "You are too cool", and a few others. 
This is Madeline waiting in line to get her bunny stuffed. The store was packed that night. Thank goodness we knew exactly what to do and where to go becasue we had no help in the store from one employee.(except for the girl who did the stuffing)
When you stuff an animal at build a bear you go through a routine of kissing a heart and rubbing it on your wrists, etc... that you insert in the animal with "LOVE" and making a wish while jumping up and down. Its whole whole routine all kids do so they can be a part of the stuffing process.
At last she was done and sewn up--she immediatlely gave her a hug.
After the stuffing process you give them a bath. There are little pretend hairbrushes and a pretend bath that blows out air. This gets of any stuffing that may have made its way onto the animal.
She spent no time picking out the outfit. She knew exactly what she wanted. The heart Valentine dress and the Sparkly red shoes.

As we made our way though another store in the mall she had me take a picture on this round red counch with her new best buddy, Amy. We had a wonderful time just spending the evening together.I was tagged by Becca. (My first one!) Those are the rules, but I do not have 7 people to tag-still getting to know people on here. I do have a few, but they have already been tagged. So I will tell 7 weird things about myself anyhow.
1. I have to wash my hair everyday. If I do not, I just feel plain awful all day long. It takes my somewhat short hair over 25 minutes to dry with a blowdryer because it is so thick.
2. I have a ton of scrapbooking supplies, a huge scrapbooking table, neatly organized drawers, pens, inks, stamps, paper, etc... Have gone to Stampin Up parties, bought more, and rarely scrapbook unless my sister-in-law asks me to go "Archiver's" to scrapbook- which has been close to 6 months since we last went.
3. I have never had to go to the ER, never broken a bone or had stitches (with the exception of my c-section). This is odd becasue I played a ton of sports (field hockey,was goalie, volleyball, softball, soccer, etc) and never got injured.
4. I have to fall asleep with the TV on.
5. I am still lucky to say I have 2 grandparents left. My mom's mom is 95, and my dad's dad, who is 84. They amaze me and I fell lucky to have them still in my life.
6. I have had acrylic nails over 15 years. I was a nail biter and got them and never stopped getting them.
7. I love working RETAIL. My full time career used to be in retail management. I love selling and talking to people. People think I am crazy when I say I love working during the holidays. LOVE IT. I currently work at Gymboree.

OK, so we are still hoping for a big snow here in Louisville for this year. I found some pictures of the little snow we got last year at this time. At least last year we got something to make a small snowman. Madeline had a ball making snow angels and building her snowman. Let's hope we still see some white stuff before Spring. Its just too fun to play in.
